Kimonomania

I've heard that among the Vikings a kitten was given to a newlywed couple, both in honor of the goddess Frigg and for the practical purpose of pest control. Jack and I are neither Vikings of old nor newlyweds (yet), but we do have a new kitten.
Kimono is small, mostly white, soft-furred and very loud. She likes sleeping on top of the guinea pigs' cage, dunking her face into unattended cups of coffee, playing with her feathered rainbow toy, playing with the hands of whoever is holding the rainbow toy, playing with the legs of whoever is holding the rainbow toy, and biting human flesh.
We love her.
Her name was originally Curly Q, but we are merciful kitten owners, we believe in the humane treatment of all little biting creatures, and we have changed it to Kimono.
Kimono the kitten came with us for the final third of Jack and Kathryn's Awesome Roadtrip, fifteen hours from Michigan to Massachusetts, and spent her time yowling in panic or asleep on my lap. We fed her dry food and water at rest stops and tried our best to assure her that the car was a good car, a peaceful and friendly car, and not at all something to protest for fifteen hours straight.
She likes the same left shoulder that the guinea pigs do. By this point in my pet-carrying career I've just accepted that this shoulder is magical.
My mother loves her. Our older cat, Wicca, loves her quite notably less, but we are still holding out hope for a respectful alliance. The guinea pigs stare at her, squeak, and scare her off.
If you're wondering, Kathryn, where are the pictures of your kitten, does Kimono even exist at all, are you in fact orchestrating an elaborate kitten-related ruse -- let me say that I am wondering that as well. I've taken tons of pictures of our newest biter of human flesh. Trouble is, I took them with Jack's phone, which is greatly superior to mine in terms of actually working, and Jack's phone is a mysterious object whose world crosses over into ours at only a few points per day. Jack napped at a rest stop during the roadtrip for about four hours and all I did was take pictures of Kimono with his phone, And now I cannot find a single one.
Weird.
Until I retrieve Jack's phone from the Nightosphere I hope that this picture I made in Paint two minutes ago will suffice. Happy Monday, everyone.
