Today was a banner day for science. We now have the first biofluorescent reptile ever recorded. We found a new species of snake in western Australia. And to top it off, we have found evidence that indicates that Mars has flowing water.
My fever has been hovering around 100 degrees today, and it brought a sore throat with it. Jack has gone above and beyond the call of duty with hot coffee and Thai soup.
It makes an indescribale difference to have someone help out like this when you feel awful. There were some days in college when I wasn't able to get myself anything to eat, so I just didn't eat that day. I was thinking about this while heating up the rest of the soup this evening.
Imagine having soup on Mars. I wonder if we'd have large puffy protective shields over all of the buildings, or if we would have found a way to let us walk around unhindered. If we would see Ray Bradbury's soft rains and watch the Martian sunrise.
As a thought experiment, I once asked Jack how he would feel about moving to Mars, if he would even want to go. It turns out that my fiancé would be 100% down to blow this great blue-and-white popsicle stand. I wasn't expecting this enthusiasm. I don't know how I would feel, really feel, to leave Earth. So much of my Pagan religion is caught up in the rhythm of this world, its seasons and its history. On the other hand, though, Mars.
Mars.
Imagine, our grandchildren might live across two worlds, take roadtrips across Mars, play Space Oddity, and watch Earth eclipse the sun.
